Job Description
The Community Employment Specialist is responsible for the day to day operations at the job site including training of employees, maintaining quality and meeting customer requirements. The Specialist is responsible for providing employees with the direction needed to perform the work, set a professional example through their actions, attendance and dress. The Specialist will be an advocate on behalf of all employees under their direct supervision. The specialist must be able to work independently with their employees and have the ability to make immediate decisions should an unexpected situation develop. Position reports to the Career Center Manager.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervise and coordinate activities of employees performing job duties as requested by the customer
- Document employee hours worked in ADP, incident and accident reports, employee progress, etc.
- Assess, evaluate, and document each employee’s strengths, needs, vocational choice, rehabilitation difficulties, functional limitations and whole-life needs
- Be familiar with CARF standards as they relate to the Community Employment Services itself and the process of documenting outcomes
- Develop an Individual Work Plan (IWP) and make any revisions for each employee in accordance with their needs and location or desire for employment
- Provide individualized assistance and training to assist the employee in meeting stated goals
- Supervise and monitor the progress of each employee and record events leading to goal achievement in the employee’s case record
- Secure, record and report on employee input, in Set Works, as required as well as reporting on satisfaction surveys
- Maintain employee records in Set Works, in strict accordance with standards (CARF, HIPPA, etc.)
- Collect quarterly information on each employee and issue quarterly summary reports to CES management
- Refer employees to the appropriate external services/service agency to assist them if in need of additional services
- Provide assistance and conduct assessments of potential employees at assigned site
- Learn and understand procedures, expectations, rules, etc of customers, and provide a positive example to employees by following the above when working at the job site
- Train employees to efficiently perform job functions as set by customer
- Ensure quotas, deadlines, and quality standards set forth by the customer are met
- Provide back-up assistance to others at off-site when necessary
- Maintain work area in a safe, clean and organized manner
- Follow all policies and procedures established by BCI and the customer
- Independently provide one-on-one support for employees as necessary while ensuring the safety of the other employees
- Provide protective oversight for the employees throughout their work shift
- Act as a liaison between an employee and the customer as needed
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required. Extensive experience in the field of human services may offset degree requirement. CPR and First Aid certification required (training will be provided if non certified). 3-5 years experience performing and supervising the type of work performed by the site desired. Prior experience working with adults with disabilities desired, at least 3 years preferred. Good communication and interaction skills required. Quality control experience (attention to detail) preferred. Computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
The physical demands and environmental characteristics will vary depending upon the work environment of the customer.
