Job Description

The Employee Assistant at BCI assists each employee with patient direction and encouragement while at breaks and lunch.  This person acts as an advocate for the employee/clients and maintains the break room in a clean, safe and orderly fashion. 

Duties:

·         Assist employee/clients with snack machines, microwaves, seat assignments etc.   

·         Insure employee/client behaviors are appropriate through positive reinforcement and/or intervention when necessary.   Intervene and problem solve when necessary.

·         Effectively communicate with department team members regarding behaviors, issues and concerns.  Document incidents as required.

·         Monitor and assist employees waiting in break room during work hours.

·         Assist with daily check/in/ check out procedure.

·         Maintain employee & staff break room in a clean, safe and orderly fashion –i.e. clean spills, clean refrigerators & microwaves, countertops & cabinet fronts; wipe tables, clean vending machine fronts; empty & recycle soda cans.

·         Routinely clean inside of employee lockers.

·         Place coffee product orders as scheduled.

·         Spot check & fill toilet paper in employee restrooms if needed.

·         Monitor cleaning chemicals, in use and in storage.

·         Maintain seasonal décor in break room.

·         Assist with department clerical duties as time permits.

·         Attend staff meetings, in-service training sessions & seminars as required,

·         Demonstrate good judgment in handling sensitive/confidential information,


Job Requirements

Qualifications:                                                                                   

High school diploma or G.E.D. required. 

Experience:

Good communication and interaction skills required.  Prior experience working with adults with disabilities preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee routinely is required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms, turn and twist above and below the waist; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, and occasionally sit.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.  Be able to push or pull up to 25 pounds.  Lift and carry up to 25 pounds of dead weight (assistance if necessary).

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
