Manager of Competitive Employment Services 

The Manager of Community Employment Services oversees BCI’s  Competitive Employment Services program. Responsible for the development, implementation and direction of services, community outreach, maintaining and improving relationships with funders and Employment Partners. Provides assessments, career and retention services for job seekers referred from Vocational Rehabilitation (VR). 

This position is at the BCI Skills Center. 



  • Manage and direct all aspects of  Competitive  Employment programs, VR contract services and student summer work programs, including interviewing and hiring of program participants and staff

  • Manage, train and direct the activities of CE Supervisors; delegating caseloads, ensuring excellent quality of services and deadlines are being met, approval of mileage, credit card statements

  • Develop and update SOPs, Process Flows and Training Sheets as applicable and/or changes occur

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with referring schools and funding agencies.

  • Primary liaison for Vocational Rehabilitation (VR); responsible for the approval, delegation and invoicing of all referred contracts and reporting

  • Guide CE Supervisors in providing direct and indirect services for career exploration activities, assessments, job development/ placement services and on-the-job coaching/support; maintain caseload of individuals in program

  • Ensure individuals receiving Supported Employment Follow Along (SEFA) services are utilizing the allotted support hours each month and the hours are billed accordingly

  • Establish and maintain working relationships with industry organizations, and public agencies to source job openings and secure employment and vocational training opportunities for clients

  • Develop and implement accurate, consistent and efficient data collection and reporting methods

  • Document, complete all paperwork and meet all deadlines in compliance with BCI, Employment Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, Employer, CARF or HIPAA standards

  • Participate in weekly Idea Bounce meeting and monthly board updates

  • Perform other duties as directed  


Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Behavior Sciences, Social Work, Business Management or related field is preferred.  Experience in the field of human services or supervision may offset degree requirement.  CPR and First Aid certification required (training will be provided if non-certified).  



3-5 years of experience in Employment Services is preferred.  Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities desired, at least 3 years preferred.   Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to multi-task and flexible schedule required.  Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
