Behavior Specialist, Skills Center

Reports to the Executive Director.  The Behavior Specialist is an integral part of the Skills Center team to create success in participants and educators.  The Behavior Specialist will construct individual plans, problem solve situations, document and incorporate any necessary tools to make vocational training a realization. 

Duties

  • Assess vocational abilities and train on necessary supports or accommodations for participant success

  • Develop individual plans for participants and document progress

  • Develop programs and services for participants that have developmental or intellectual disabilities, for the purpose of improved functioning and ensure compliance with the Skills Center’s guidelines

  • As needed develops interventions, conducts functional behavior assessments and develops/trains/monitors behavior plans for the purpose of providing a safe and effective training environment

  • Assists in developing procedures and training materials for educators of the Skills Center and training and materials to our partnered businesses

  • Intervene and be a first responder to situations that require additional staff supports

  • Conducts trainings on behavior based techniques and other topics for the purpose of developing new participant skills

  • Coordinates the handling of abuse and neglect cases through contact with outside agency personnel for the purpose of complying with mandated requirements

  • Implement innovative concepts that strengthen vocational skills and soft skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s degree preferred.  Missouri provisional or fully Licensed Assistant Behavior Analyst (LABA) or Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA)

  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in utilizing applied behavior analysis principles to design and train programs for adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Good communication skills

  • Effective writing and interpersonal skills

  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and concepts among those with developmental and intellectual disabilities

  • Advanced to intermediate computer experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
