BCI's Katie Jones Appointed to Governor's Council on Disability

Boone Center, Inc. (BCI) Director of Programs & Political Action, Katie Jones, has been appointed by Governor Eric Greitens to serve a five-year term on the Governor’s Council on Disability (GCD). Jones’ appointment was confirmed by the Missouri Senate.
“I am honored to be appointed to the Governor’s Council,” said Jones. “They are a strong voice for all Missourians who are living with disabilities.”
The GCD promotes full participation and inclusion of the nearly one million Missourians with disabilities in all aspects of community life by educating citizens, businesses, schools, universities and others of their rights and responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Jones’ appointment came in late October when Governor Greitens named 30 highly qualified women to leadership positions on a number of the state’s boards and commissions.
“For over 10 years Katie has set the bar in advocating for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in the areas of policy, programming and legislation,” said BCI CEO Tony Spielberg. “The state of Missouri has just gained a ton of integrity, acumen and heart with her appointment to the GCD.”
In addition to her job at BCI, Jones is also a member of the National Association of Workforce Development and chairman of the legislative committee of the St. Charles County Coalition of Service Providers. Jones earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Lindenwood University.
