Two members of BCI’s executive team were honored on Friday, April 27 by the Eastern Chapter of the Missouri Rehabilitation Association (MRA). MRA is a member organization that promotes ethical and state of the art practice in rehabilitation with the goal of the personal and economic independence of persons with disabilities.
Katie Jones, Director of Programs and Political Action, received the MRA’s President’s Award, which recognizes an individual who goes above and beyond in service to individuals with disabilities, ensuring excellent service in achieving individual goals. Tony Spielberg, CEO, received the MRA’s Community Service Award, which recognizes an individual outside of the rehabilitation community who has made a significant contribution toward meeting the needs of the community.
“The respect I have for Katie is tremendously high,” said Jessica Davis, BCI Community Employment Specialist, who nominated Jones. “She is a passionate, driven, and incredibly knowledgeable leader. Her gift for advocacy goes beyond the walls of BCI, providing education and opportunities to many. I learn from her on a daily basis, and she makes me feel valued as a team member.”
“Tony grows partnerships and makes connections,” said Jaclyn Norono-Rodriguez, BCI National Accounts Team Manager, who was one of 11 who nominated Spielberg. “I am astonished at the partnerships he’s helped to create, not only for BCI but for the community. Connecting people, connecting work, connecting associations all together, I am completely amazed. On top of that, he also focuses on the individual, and that’s something that really makes a difference.”
