BCI Awarded 2018 Community Council Community Builder Award

Boone Center, Inc. (BCI) was named a 2018 Community Builder by Community Council on Thursday, May 3rd.

Community Council hosts an awards reception annually to recognize organizations and individuals who share in the mission of bringing together people, resources and organizations to build a stronger, healthier and more compassionate community.

The event featured keynote speakers Leah Bernstein, Executive Director of Athena Leadership Foundation of St. Charles, and Mark Hollander, Executive Director of VISION St. Charles County Leadership. There was also an opportunity during the reception for networking with other sponsors and honorees.

Along with the Community Builder Award, BCI received a Community Portrait, which will be hung in the halls of the Community Commons at the Spencer Road branch of the St. Charles City-County Library for the next year. This gift is intended to be a way of recognizing the work BCI does in the community and sharing it with thousands of community members who visit the library each year.

“St. Charles County has many quality nonprofits doing a lot of good for adults with disabilities, as well as the community at large,” BCI CEO Tony Spielberg said. “I firmly believe that when we work together, we can accomplish great things.”

BCI knows that adults with disabilities can contribute meaningfully to productive business organizations. Committed to leading an “inclusion revolution”, the nonprofit is a major advocate at the local, state and federal levels for employment opportunities and choice for all.
