BCI to Hold Virtual 5K and Movement Challenge May 23-25
Boone Center, Inc. (BCI) will hold its first-ever Hometown Hero Virtual 5K and Movement Challenge over Memorial Day weekend, May 23-25, 2020.
The event is a fitness challenge fundraiser for all abilities. Participants can choose from a variety of fitness activities and complete their goal at their own pace at any location. Proceeds will benefit the non-profits’ employment facilities and programs for adults with disabilities.
“You can run a traditional 5K at your favorite park or ride a bike, climb stairs, or do rigorous house or yard work—it’s all up to you,” said Monique Bynum, Senior Director of Development. “The goal is to just get moving! As a peer-to-peer fundraiser, we also hope participants will drum up pledges from their friends and family to do even more movement and raise even more money.”
Registration, open now through May 24, is $25 per person and includes a canvas duffle bag. To register, visit https://secure.qgiv.com/event/bcihero5k/.

Leading up to and through the challenge weekend, participants are encouraged to post photos, updates, and motivate fellow Hometown Heros to join the fun. BCI recommends Strava, a free app, for those who want to track and share their route and time using a mobile device.
The one Hometown Hero who raises the most money will win a prize package that includes a Google Home Mini, a $20 gift card to Chick-fil-A, and limited edition BCI swag.
