BCI Receives PLB Funding to Support St. Louis County Residents
Boone Center, Inc. (BCI) has been approved to receive $89,108 in funding from the Productive Living Board of St. Louis County (PLB). The investment will fund vocational training and employment support services for eligible St. Louis County residents beginning July 1.
“Many adults with disabilities want to work competitively,” said BCI Skills Center Chief Program Officer Jeremy Sutton. “This funding means that more individuals can train for integrated jobs with excellent starting wages and opportunities to advance. It also provides vital follow-along services as their careers progress.”
Headquartered in St. Peters, BCI primarily provides a continuum of employment services for St. Charles County residents. However, through its Skills Center, the nonprofit also helps employ those who want to work in St. Louis County. This is done through employment services as well as vocational training programs in partnership with Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital and Cambridge Air Solutions. Partnerships with other St. Louis County firms are also in development.
“No matter what side of the river our graduates live on, they are quickly becoming some of our partner companies’ best workers,” said Sutton. “We are grateful to PLB for this funding because it allows more people to achieve competitive employment and advances disability inclusion in our region.”
PLB funds various services that create opportunities for St. Louis County residents with developmental disabilities to thrive in the home, community, and employment setting of their choosing. For more information on PLB services, visit www.plboard.org.
