New Speaker Series Kicks Off September 21

Boone Center, Inc. (BCI) will kick off a new speaker series on Wednesday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m. with “Special Needs Trusts: What You Need to Know.” This free online webinar will feature attorney Debra K. Schuster in partnership with Thrivent Financial.

A special needs trust is a legal arrangement and fiduciary relationship that allows a person living with a developmental disability to receive income without reducing their eligibility for public assistance benefits provided by Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, or Medicaid.

Schuster, along with Thrivent representatives Jonathan Drew and Logan Hepburn, will share important facts about special needs trusts. The team will also answer frequently asked questions and offer insights into trust options. Thrivent will not sell products during the presentation.

“With this speaker series, we hope to bring valuable information to our BCI families and the community at large,” said BCI Lead Employment Support Specialist Elizabeth Dulle and speaker series coordinator. “When you have a person living with a disability in your family, there are many things that can keep you up at night. Those are the topics we want to address, with the goal of leaving everyone more informed and empowered.”
